The Sony KV-35V68 35-inch TV is large enough to do justice to Hollywood's special effects extravaganzas, yet not so big that it takes up an entire living room wall. The combination makes this TV a standard bearer for viewers with a need for high-resolution images and expansive features. In addition to such Sony essentials as a three-line digital comb filter (minimizes dot crawl and blurred colors) and a magnetic quadra pole (decreases beam spot distortion and improves corner-to-corner focus), the TV also includes a two-tuner picture-in-picture, so viewers can watch two programs at once, and a Freeze Memo feature that pauses an image in the smaller picture-in-picture window. In addition, the TV's Dynamic Picture processor refines the detail in both the extremely bright and very dark areas of a scene, so the images in both picture windows look sharp and focused.

Other picture enhancements include velocity scan modulation, which creates refined edges around the objects on the screen, and the combination of Dynamic Focus and Dynamic Picture circuitry. The end result is a crisp, clear picture with vibrant colors and vivid resolution. Parents can rest easy with the built-in V-chip, which lets them restrict the programming their children watch based on preset ratings, while the hearing impaired will appreciate the closed captioning option. The TV also offers several custom picture modes (including vivid, standard, and movie), an express tuning system, SpeedSurf rapid channel scanning, up to five favorite channels, and a sleep timer with 30-, 60-, and 90-minute settings.

The KV-35V68 comes loaded with several essential audio features, including a built-in 20-watt speaker system (10 watts x 2), SRS 3D audio enhancement (offers dynamic three-dimensional sound), an MTS stereo decoder with DBX noise reduction, and a Steady Sound automatic volume leveler. The combined audio options let the viewer listen through the built-in speakers, select an outside audio source, and even listen to an alternate audio broadcast of the same program (SAP) when available.

The device offers a host of inputs and outputs for component connection, including two S-video inputs (one front and one rear), three composite inputs (one front and two rear) for such devices as a game console or camcorder, three S-link connections, one audio output for connection to a stereo, and one monitor output. As with most Sony TVs, this unit is also Energy Star compliant.
