Sony's KV-13M52 has A/V inputs, for connecting game consoles, camcorders or other video sources, on both the front and the rear. It also has an RF input (for a cable box or antenna) and a headphone jack. The mono sound is delivered courtesy of a single speaker that's driven by three watts of power from the internal amplifier. XDS (Extended Data Service) displays the time, station call letters and programming information transmitted by some broadcasters. Favorite Channel provides one-button access to any of five preprogrammed channels.

This TV features Sony's acclaimed Trinitron picture tube, which is based on a cylindrical model that contains a flat screen face. Because the screen is flat from top to bottom, vertical lines remain straight and distortion is minimized. The Trinitron tube also significantly reduces glare by reflecting light toward the floor, rather than directly into the viewer's eyes where it can make the picture appear washed out. Convenience features include an easy-to-operate onscreen menu, Favorite Channel customizable settings, Channel Fix (for changing the channel via cable box) and Speed Surf. The V-chip parental control allows parents to curtail their children's viewing of sensitive subject matter.
